Guess what? We’re going to get to do one of those new Brass Scorpions from Forge World later this month!
.
Let’s get started shall we? The last two days I’ve actually slept through the night. I like that. I’ve noticed that no matter how well things are going I find ever-smaller things to gripe about. I need to break that cycle.
.
We went to a dinner in my brother-in-law’s honor on Monday (did I mention that already?) and we got home late. There’s something magic about carrying sleeping kids in from the car. I can’t believe we have four children. It feels like our family is complete. The two older kids were sick.

I have two new Artists down at the studio training. Well, that’s not quite the word since both are already an accomplished, award-winning miniatures painters/artists in their own right. The first is a real geek, jumping in to quote Star Wars or Monty Python with the rest of us. So, not “training” really, but more like cross-pollinating with other artists including myself so that their style will merge with the studio style in a cohesive way.
.
I usually don’t present new artists for the first three to six months. We monitor carefully for “implosion”. New artists tend to crumple under the strain, and I’ve found it’s a good bet to reinforce them with a lot of mentoring and careful follow-up. You’ve got to see some of their stuff. I’m going to have some pics up in the near future. I couldn’t even believe the talent that came through on this round of hiring.

I got in sixteen vypers on a trade. I will probably be able to salvage eight or ten of them. Many are missing cockpit covers, which I would be thrilled to trade in if somebody has any, any at all. Two of them are being prepped for painting right now. I hope to have prototypes up soon. That’s for the Teal Eldar.

Yesterday, Tamie took all the kids, dressed in Sunday best, to the dedication of the Draper Temple. I very much wanted to go, but there was absolutely no escape from my duties at the studio.
