Somewhere in no man’s land the Valkyrie “Lucy” has crash-landed. A hunter cadre of Tau are dispatched to recover her vital cargo.
Unbeknownst to them, the hive mind also has Lucy on it’s mind…
This Saturday there will be a 2250 point Battle Report: Tau vs Tyranids. We’ll be playing it on the trenchworks board.
Mission: Seize Ground
Deployment: Pitched Battle
Not much to say today, not much on my mind. Just real grateful and wondering how I can be useful to my fellowman.
My wife and I both slept in this morning with various rounds of kids coming in to give us snuggles. Willow is sleeping through the night (just needs a feeding at 6am) and she’s walking a bit, wishing to prefer ambulation to crawling. And she’s making gagish pre-speech. More and more of it. She’s like a bulldozer. She’s got solid baby thighs and eats by the fistful.
I spent a while this morning playing catch with my son in the front yard. That was iconic.
Then off to church where we were late and while waiting in the hall G. accidentally headbutted J. in the nose and gave him a nosebleed. I took him home to tend to him.
I am eating a lot healthier, with the exception of the butter and jam-laden scones my wife fried up today. I’m still on the same diet as before, which is “eat whatever I want”, I just find myself wanting to eat vegetables a lot more.
I went out home-teaching today. I was assigned a new comp. I’ve visited the same family for over three years now. They have six children, and when we come by they all sit quietly on the couch. It’s the most amazing thing. My kids are doing cartwheels and climbing on the walls when guests come.
Afterwards I lay on the bed with my darling wife, kissing her softly and running my hands through her hair. We were listening to 80s music and reminiscing.
The kids are playing games and were playing catch for a while in the back yard (it’s pretty fair weather today).
Right now I am futzing around on the computer and watching Lord of the Rings again.
You’ve got to love someone for who they are, blind to their faults, and mouth open in praise for the good things they are. It’s a waste of time to nag a loved one for flaws. I spent ten years heaping criticism on my lovely wife for her poor house-keeping skills. But you know what? That’s just not her forte. How much better to have just poured on the compliments for the good things (the hundred other good things) that she is? Same with my kids. Not every child is cut out for Math. Sure, she could practice and get better and maybe that’s needed. But what are her strengths?
Teenagers especially don’t need a butt-whuppin. They mostly need love and kindness and a good word.

Mesa Nids now have four games under their belt, each with at least two regenerating large creatures. So far the net result is break even. The number of regenerated wounds has been very close to the number of times Regeneration was purchased, which is the break even point.
Seeing Sarah eat her delicious all-natural food every day has planted in me a desire to eat better. Not a regimen which is an odious yoke, but something I really want to do. I find myself gravitating to produce and finding processed food increasingly disgusting. I don’t eat fast food anymore.
Yes, I KNOW! That IS so weird!
I halved my sugar intake last week. I had headaches. Could it be related? Like an addict getting off his substance?
A growing sense of duty is growing within me. I can’t be indifferent to my health anymore. I have too many people depending on me.
I put in a full working day today, by myself. Oddly not a single person came in. The good news is that I’m all caught up. Every single project is assigned and underway. My desk and Inbox are cleared. I’ll be ready for Monday to get out of the gate.
It also sucked because I’m all dressed up and nowhere to go: tons of armies, and a whole Saturday afternoon and no one to play wiff. Sniff.
Well, not completely alone. My two strong sons came down to keep me company (and give mommy a break). That was fun. Afterwards we headed to Wal Mart to pick up a toy.
As much joy as my mortal frame can stand.
PS- still looking for a local to pick up a game with. I even have studio armies you can use!
Still got both of those Space Marine armies up. I am at the studio all day today just waiting by the phone…
The studio is moving along at a clipper pace. We are working on a 5000 pt Dark Elf army which is a colossal undertaking.
Today I finished painting up the following for the studio Mesa Nids army:
1x Hive Tyrant
2x Tyrannofex
1x Parasite of Mortrex
1x Deathleaper (super-custom version)
6x Tyranid Warriors
I was prepping all this for a mondo battle report tomorrow, but turns out I had the date wrong– it’s the 13th (Saturday) and not tomorrow (Saturday). What a disappointment. Anyone up for a game? You can even use a studio army eg Oceanic Eldar.
My wife and I went to see Alice in Wonderland. Go in with no expectations and you’ll have a good time. We plan on buying it. But it didn’t make me think, shed a tear or move me emotionally in any way. But that’s OK. Cotton Candy.
We are coming up on sixteen glorious years married now. Things are better than ever. The honeymoon was terrible compared to now. We are adjusted to each other, and the romance is coupled now with not-being-so-broke. It’s real nice.
Tamie and I are both firstborns. High strung and used to getting our way. But also with a strong independent streak that made us very suited to each other. We carved out our own world the way we wanted to run it. We would have crushed lesser mortals. Both our sets of parents were divorced at sixteen years along. Screw that! We’re crusing along with no sign of slowing.
Anyway, after Wonderland we went out for Sushi, something we both love ever so much. And then home to our darling children. It’s like out of a storybook. I don’t even know what to say.
Tomorrow I plan on putting in a solid working day to get caught up. If you’re waiting for an email response from me, I’m ever so sorry. Don’t worry, I’ll get everything sewn up.
All is well. Gadget (counter) was malfunctioning.
I just added up the Mesa Nids (including everything that is assembled and ready to paint as well). The swarm stands at 4300 pts.
The ultimate incarnation will likely weigh in around 8000 pts. Insane.
